Program Overview
 
Jeff Galloway's Training Programs™ are for all levels of runners, from beginning runners to Boston qualifiers. This Low-mileage, Injury-free Training Program is for those who have jobs, families, and a life! The Tacoma Galloway Training Program meets on Saturday mornings at various locations across the Tacoma area, and follows Jeff Galloway’s training guidelines to get you safely across the finish line from a 5k to a full marathon if your goals are to finish, or to achieve a ‘PR’. Our group runs feature walking breaks at regular intervals based on your skill level. Pace groups (of usually 8-15) are set up according to current fitness level, and a Group Leader is assigned to keep the speed slow enough for all members, and to enforce walk breaks from the beginning to the end. Most of our runs will be on the many trail systems available to us. These will include Point Defiance Park, Foothills Trail and Shuster Parkway. We will avoid running on the roads as much as possible.

Running is more fun when running together, as each member is motivated to run more often, and stay injury free. As you share stories, and pull one another along, the miles go by much more quickly. Lifelong friendships are formed in these mission-oriented, but laid back groups.

A little more about Jeff Galloway

Jeff's quest for the injury-free marathon training program led him to develop group training programs in 1978, and to author Runner's World articles which have been used by hundreds of thousands of runners of all abilities. His training schedules have inspired the second wave of marathoners who follow the Galloway RUN-WALK-RUN™, low mileage, three-day, suggestions to an over 98% success rate.

Jeff has worked with over 200,000 average people in training for specific goals and is the inventor of the Galloway RUN-WALK-RUN™ method. Jeff is an inspirational speaker to over 200 running and fitness sessions each year.

His innovative ideas have opened up the possibility of running and completing a marathon to almost everyone. Philosophically, Jeff believes that we were all designed to run and walk, and he keeps finding ways to bring more people into the positive world of exercise...

Tips from Jeff

Almost everyone has at least one "bad" long run/walk.
You may never be able to discover why, but if you know, learn! The tough ones teach you that you have hidden inner strengths, which you can draw upon in future challenges, both in training and in life itself. This will particularly help your confidence and your ability to withstand adversity in the race itself.
